NELA ART SHOW 5/11
For those artists and Highland Park fans out there. Last weekend I attended a great art walk along York. Local artists works were displayed at the different establishments along the Blvd.
We started the walk at Cafe de Leche. In the cafe they were showcasing Tom Lambs art work. I recently collaborated with him on his most recent work the Highland Park map. It really came out great and showed the essence of the Highland Park community. A community that we have a important role in transforming house by house. Below you will find a picture of myself, Tom, my brother Jeffrey and map of course
After spending sometime hanging out at Cafe de Leche we strolled to Sonny’s Hideaway. Along the walk we peaked our heads in other places and checked out the artwork. Sonny’s Its a new bar/restaurant that took the place of Highland Park kitchen. Its food is considered new american cuisine. They did a amazing job with the decor and the whole vibe of the place. We grabbed a beer and checked out the back patio area. Its enclosed by a modern wood fencing about 7ft high and on top is a row of lights emitting just enough light. We had pleasant time on the patio. As we walked out we were approached by the owner. He just wanted to make sure all our needs were met. We had good conversation with him and felt very welcome. Will definitely be back soon to try out their dinner menu.
Then we ended the night at the Hermosillo bar. At first glance it has the resemblance of a strip club. You walk in and find they have done up the place nice inside. Everyone seemed in happy spirits and it was a all around good time. Just keep in mind its only beer&wine establishment.
In conclusion the art walk was a happening spot. A great community event for the people of Highland Park. I think its great to have events like this to promote local artist. I hope there is a event like this one soon.
